Diets for Gout

Diet for anemia may include excluding alcohol and foods high in purines.  Weight loss diets may benefit some clients.  Please consult your doctor or nutritionist for which diet would be most appropriate.

Foods High in Purine:

  • Anchovies

  • Herring

  • Mackerel

  • Sardines

  • Scallops

  • Organ meats (liver, kidney)

  • Gravies

  • Meat extracts/Meat soups

  • Wild game

  • Goose

  • Sweetbread

  • Mussels

  • Venison

Foods with moderate amounts of Purine:

  • Chicken

  • Salmon

  • Crab

  • Veal

  • Mutton

  • Bacon

  • Pork

  • Beef

  • Ham

 

Alcohol consumption should be reduced if not eliminated.
