Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) is a virus that can cause the following symptoms 2-14 days after exposure:
-
Fever or chills
-
Cough
-
Shortness of breath/Difficulty breathing
-
Fatigue
-
Muscle or body aches
-
Headache

-
Covid-19 spreads when a person comes into contact with a surface with the virus; or close contact with a person who has the virus. Droplets from an infected person (during talking, coughing, sneezing) can land on the area around them (including the people who are near).

-
People who are infected but do not show any symptoms can be carriers for the virus and may still spread it.

-
Ways to prevent the spread of Covid-19:
-
Wash hands frequently. If unable to wash hands, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
-
Before and after touching food
-
After using the restroom
-
After coming into contact with other people or animals
-
Leaving a public place
-
Before touching your face
-
After leaving a public place or touching a public surface
-
after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
-
-
Avoid touching the face
-
Keep a distance of at least 6 feet (about 2 arms length) from other people who you do not live with; and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
-
Cover mouth or nose with a face mask when outside the home. This will help to protect yourself and others.
-
Stay at home when you can.
-
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces (door knobs, tables, light switches, phones, toilets, sinks, etc.) and clean surfaces with notable dirt.
-
Monitor your health: Monitor for Covid-19 symptoms and monitor your temperature, if possible.
-
Get tested if you are sick, have come in contact with someone who is sick, or if you are mandated or required to by work, school, doctor, health department, or other entity.
-

-
If you are sick:
-
Stay home if possible. Have a neighbor or friend get food or supplies for you and leave them on your porch. There are several community organizations that can help if no assistance is available.
-
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when sneezing or coughing. Use the inside of your elbow if tissue is not available. Throw tissue in the trash and wash or sanitize your hands
-
Avoid touching pets. Pets may transmit the virus to other people if they come into contact with the pet
-
Monitor symptoms and call 911 if symptoms are critical (see above)
-
Avoid touching your face
-
Wash hands frequently or use hand sanitizer
-
If living with other people:
-
Wear a mask when around people to cover your mouth and nose, even in the house.
-
If possible, dedicate a room or area of the house that can be your "sick room".
-
Clean and disinfect high touch surfaces. You should clean the areas in the sick room and another person should clean the surfaces outside the sick room.
